THE PLACES THAT CREATED AN EVERLASTING IMPRESSION ON ME

I have visited innumerable places  in my childhood, One of the places that really caught an everlasting impression in me is Ponmudi near Thiruvananthapuram. The best aspect of the place which caught my heart  is its peacefulness and serenity. When I visited the place it was not much dwelled upon, there were very few people residing in that part, just a post office, a provisions store, and a cottage that adheres to the travellers needs. We just stayed there for a day and a night and there s not much to see in that place either, but what exactly caught my heart  that  made me write about it after such a long time is its wonder of nature’s effect on it, such an effect can only be created by god himself, may be because of the fact that few people resided there and not much travellers at that time could have made it pollution free. One really gets a feeling of bliss while being there, having been a child studying 4 th standard and the fact that I was still able to realise the feeling of  bliss  evokes a wonder in me.

Despite the fact that I am an only child and wherever I travelled with my parents I was the only kid left to spend my time on my own, I still liked the place and did not feel much lonely or bored while being there. May be because I am a best friend of nature I felt so close to it not minding the loneliness in me. The herds of elephants I saw there and the deers that ran past our car while on the road had a stupendous effect on me. Every image of it is still perfectly photographed in my mind with a picture clear view.

After a long day of spending my time with mother nature there arrived a group of travellers in a mini van in the evening with a lot of children, which was the best part in itself where I spent about some of the hours during the night with all of them playing games and getting to know all the children in that group. We played musical chairs and a game which involved chits passed in a random manner that contained instructions on what each of us had to do while our turn arrived. That bonding with people made it even more hard for me to leave that place in the morning.

Topslips or Anaimalai is another place that I cannot forget, basically its just another wildlife sanctuary but what made it   unforgettable   was the events that I experienced there, the herds of elephants I saw there and animals I came across created a stupendous effect on me at that age.

After a good day of sight-seeing the night was even more surprising by a visit from one of the bears living in that place, it came all the way to greet us,  scratching the back door of our cottage, it became so tired after some time and left us. I still remember showing the real bear to my teddy bear kutti and asking it if it wishes to become its friends. Suprising and shocking though we were by a sudden visit of  a bear even though we were warned I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

While returning back from these places I felt like  am leaving my best friend, may be it was the mother nature, or the people I met and bonded there or the bear that visited me that created such an everlasting impression on me.
